High-Hand Nursery in Loomis, California, is far more than your typical plant nursery — it’s a vibrant destination where nature, art, and community blend seamlessly to create an unforgettable experience. Located at 3750 Taylor Rd, this expansive garden center and wholesale plant nursery has truly evolved into a lively hub that captivates visitors of all interests.
Stepping onto the grounds of High-Hand Nursery, you are instantly embraced by lush greenery and a dazzling variety of plants, flowers, and trees — many of which are rare and fascinating to discover, as one guest, Finding The Force, warmly attests. The nursery itself feels like a botanical playground, perfect for anyone who delights in the simple pleasure of strolling through flourishing gardens. Beyond this, High-Hand takes pride in offering unique hands-on activities such as their succulent potting stations, where you can select your own container and craft a living masterpiece.
But what truly sets High-Hand apart is its charming blend of plant life with a cultural and social spirit. The former cafe, beloved by locals for years, has blossomed into a multifaceted venue featuring a brewery, live music stage, and a winery. This dynamic atmosphere invites visitors to enjoy fresh brunches or casual meals while soaking in the natural surroundings. Angelica B's review perfectly captures the delight of dining amidst towering trees and vibrant greenery, whether from the outdoor granite seating or inside the cozy restaurant environment. It's a place where the sounds of live music and laughter mingle with the rustling leaves, creating a warm, inviting vibe.
Moreover, High-Hand is home to an intimate art gallery/shop showcasing local handmade treasures — a special touch that enriches the visitor experience and fosters community pride. The Koi fish pond offers a serene spot that sparks joy, especially for families with children.
Evenings at High-Hand unfold into lively celebrations of music and flavors, as Miracle Rodriguez highlights, where you can savor expertly crafted cocktails like their popular paloma or a memorable smores espresso. This engaging blend of garden beauty and spirited entertainment crafts an atmosphere that keeps visitors coming back again and again.
While most patrons sing praises, it is worth noting a candid review from Theresa Goodson, who found the food experience mixed during a lunch visit. Such feedback reflects the venue’s ongoing journey and invites diners to explore evolving menu offerings, ensuring the highest standards are met alongside the rich ambiance.
In essence, High-Hand Nursery is a place that enchants on every level — from the rich tapestry of plants and art to the lively pulse of food, drink, and music. Whether you’re a plant enthusiast, an art lover, or someone simply seeking a serene yet vibrant community space, High-Hand offers an authentic and deeply satisfying experience that grows with every visit.
I have visited many times through the years and this place has definitely gone through a metamorphosis.. Aside from the cafe that has been there for years, there's now a brewery, live music venue, winery and every inch has something going on from regular shopping to an art gallery/shop. Today I discovered something I hadn't noticed before.. They have a succulent potting option. Choose the container, the plants and they have a potting station where you assemble and then pay for the individual items when done. They also have standard gifts like candles, garden items, and olive oil/vinegar.. The Best part is you can shop while enjoying your beer or wine or after enjoying a meal. Truly something special.
What a beautiful concept for a restaurant! This is actually a working nursery where you can walk through plants, trees, and bushes while you wait for your table. Tables can be outside or inside depending on where you’d like to sit. The outside tables are actually granite seats and tables that you can scan the QR code to order your food and pick it up or go inside for traditional food ordering and service. The food is delicious! Make sure you put in your reservations as they fill up quickly and stop taking walk-ins. Definitely worth the drive. Prepared to spend $20-$30 per person. Mimosas were delicious. We ordered one of every dessert! everything we had I would order again, but some favorites to point out, would be the housemade potato chips, banana bread French toast and 1000% get a pizza!
This is my favorite place to come it has something for everyone. During the day you can have a beautiful brunch at the cafe then enjoy the plant nursery and even a small art gallery. In the evenings you can enjoy live music every weekend (check website for setlist) and have some yummy food and drinks. I always get a paloma! Or the smore espressoooooo so very good. Super cute for photos shoot with your girl friends. I bring all of my out of town friends here they absolutely love it. I also brought my cat in her back pack the band was loud but it is pet friendly. It gets packed so get there early for music nights.
This was an extremely large and beautiful nursery with every plant and flower that I never knew existed. It’s a beautiful place to just take a walk even though they have a very large store full of handmade treasures as well as an entire room dedicated to olive oil. The Koi fish pond was a Beautiful area to visit that brought lots of smiles of the kids faces. I also noticed that there were lots of friendly staff around to answer our questions.
It has been about 1.5 yrs since since I had lunch @ Highland. I recommended to a close friend. Neither of us was pleased with our food. I had the shrimp tacos & she had the turkey sandwich. I felt my shrimp/fish was not food thoroughly & too much. My friend was not please with her sandwich. The mushroom soup was ok & the lemonade was very good. She enjoyed Paul Martin soup more. Our choice was Pottery World, Paul Martin's or Highlands. I said it's been a while since I went to Highland. That was her 1st visit. I taking it off my list. I still have a $50.00 gift card I've had for years. It's not for me.
This place has everything!! Indoor plants, outdoor plants and alll the accessories needed for both. They have a flower shop, a place to buy oils, salsa, cookies, coffee, tea, and many different types of food at their side down cafe. We spent a couple hours wondering around the place, enjoying the koi pound, and sitting on the many benches throughout the location. We ended up with five plants, iced tea, Arnold Palmers and a couple pots. We will definitely be back as there was no way we saw everything!
A little pricey but they have one of the largest selections of trees and shrubs around. It's a great place to walk around and even dine for breakfast or lunch. They have a ton of event space for groups.
Amazing place for a weekend getaway with kids. Make sure you arrive an hour before you are hungry. Wait times are tentatively ~1-1.15 hrs. Service is great, food is fresh and tastes really good.
